THE DEVIL IN A BEE HIVE

Does anyone else thinks Sarah Palin looks like a serial killer?

We need to stop hating on Sarah Palin. I don't like her any more than you do, but this constant negativity is a tactic that quickly wears out its political effectiveness and creates an unintended backlash. I've already found myself sympathizing with Palin, as I did with Hillary Clinton during the primaries. It takes a lot of unfair and inappropriate hazing to make me feel sorry for a homophobic Alaskan who wants to ban books and shoot wolves from airplanes.

If anything, we should use McCain's choice of Palin as a VP to criticize his judgement as a commander in chief, rather than attack her directly. And Obama needs to continue blasting him as he's done the past few days.

But we need not worry. Palin will bury herself (she's already begun to do so, as is evident in the polls). Her only true asset as a candidate - her freshness-- is by definition unsustainable. The Republicans are banking on the appeal of the "story" of Palin, rather than Palin herself. That's why they stumble and struggle anytime they've had to answer for her ridiculous positions and efforts as governor of Alaska. To me, her interview with Charles Gibson was a low point in the history of American politics. He vetted her more than McCain did for chrissakes. Palin's obliviousness was spectacularly depressing.

Let's also not forget that she's losing support in her own party as well. A number of prominent conservative columnists, such as George Will, David Brooks, and Charles Krauthammer, have either severely questioned Palin's credentials or downright damned her as a viable VP candidate. Republican Senator Chuck Hagel said that the choice of Palin is "insulting to the American people."

The rest of the country will eventually come around. Like I said, you're already seeing it in the polls. The McCain/Palin ticket said on Monday that "the fundamentals of our economy are strong." This after we lost 3 trillion dollars in market value in just four days. Not THAT'S being out of touch.

Stay patient, be pragmatic, and lay off the personal attacks. They'll only hurt your cause.

I agree with you in theory - but the Repubilcans always win elections by playing dirty, so I'm not about to turn the other cheek and be the nice guy.

As for sympathy for Sarah Palin and her unethical antics, I don't think so. I also don't think she's been the target of "unfair and inappropriate hazing" - she's a devil in an off-the-rack dress. I mean, old daddy McCain has one foot in the grave - everything possible should be done to ensure that Palin does not have to take that 3 am call.

And I hope to God and pray that you are right Charlie, because we as a people and nation cannot afford another 8 years of this same garbage,of lies and double standards. To the republican party I say "Mission Accomplished", and " Your doing a heck of a job Brownie".
