OPRAH OOPS

Oprah has really pissed me off. I mean, she’s been riding her opinionated high horse and singing her own bloated charms for some time, but now she’s crossed the line. On Friday’s episode, she made the idiotic and arrogant statement that LUCK plays no part in a person’s success.

Oprah claims that success occurs when an educated and skilled person meets an opportunity.

Sounds good on paper, but in reality, it’s a pile of bullshit.

I know numerous talented and educated men and women with tons of ambition that can barely pay the rent because opportunity has not presented itself. And I know numerous untalented and uneducated men and women who have achieved great success via opportunites presented by lady LUCK.

Believe me, it takes LUCK to meet that opportunity.

And for the record, I wonder what category Oprah would put her best friend Gayle in – I mean, Gayle is a millionaire because of her LUCK of befriending Oprah.

Oprah, step down from your black tower and get a reality check.

Well I have to disagree with you...luck is bullshit. You don't hope to become a famous actor and stay in bumfucktown USA...you go where the people are that make the decisions. You work your way into the network, by interviewing, hanging out, or scializing - eventually you meet or ingratiate yourself to the people who can offer an opportunity...so success in itself is all about positioning yourself by making choices that hopefully end up making you stand apart from the crowd.

to the XOXO comment above - what a bunch of shit!!! Your choice word is "Hopefully". One can make all the right choices and network and all that stuff and never get the LUCK needed to succeed - do you really think someone like Jessica Simpson or Nicole Richie don't have luck on their side? Do you live in a dream world or the real world?

I think xoxo has his or her head of his or her ass. I am an actor in NYC and we all know LUCK has everything to do with it - I can name 10 actors who go to all the parties, etc...and have lost major million dollar parts to a girl who was "just walking down the street" and looked the part - THAT'S NOT LUCK!! xoxo you do live in a dream world of oprah-inspired new-age bullshit.

well all of you can kiss my ass because it's obvious - if you believe you have no luck, no one else will either. if you don't think people can read what you think of YOURSELF before you open your mouth then you need to work on your self-esteem or better yet, create something unique enough to pay attention to - jessica simpson is flat out gorgeous - that bitch is too pretty to not be noticed, no matter where she is - Nicole Richie--- hello??? That illustrates my point exactly: LOCATION - she grew up there, and whats even more pathetic - she's so rich she could live blissfully anonymous - but she's in the middle of it and all her friends are in it, so why not? ... try explaining jeanine garafolo or margaret cho, or even supernanny, or any of the average, barely oherent, nevermind talented people you now see everywhere on tv...if you wait for something as pathetic as LUCK to help you out no wonder you're bitter and unemployed - I mean seriously, these people are easy to meet and befriend THEY"RE PREDICTABLY AVAILBLE, and so needy for attention they'll talk to just about anyone they think is SOMEBODY - if you're such a great actor...act LIKE SOMEBODY they should know, and play the game you stupid bitches.

Look, as somebody who is a very talented songwriter and has had many upportunities, BUT ALOT OF BAD LUCK. I must agree a bit with mistermakeup. Obviously you must be driven and have some talent if you want to stay successful...But believe you me, I know many many who just lucked into situations...If I sound bitter I dont mean to...But Luck does play a big part in success...case in point...MADONNA..she had the smarts to stay on top once LUCK presented itself...not all of us are lucky....
